Work Experience: Laura Hughes joined Providence Washington Insurance Company in 1995 as a Claims Supervisor. Under her guidance and with the support of the home office, she grew the small office in Long Island, New York into a large operation, with a staff versed in handling the most complex General Liability and Labor Law cases, as well as all aspects of Commercial and Personal Lines claims. Laura is responsible for the management of the Long Island Claim Service Center from the initial investigation of new claims, setting of reserves, giving settlement authority, oversight of the litigation management process and of subrogation recoveries. Laura is experienced in working with clients with unique and special claim handling requirements.

Education: Laura received her B.A. from the State University of Brockport.

Industry experience: Laura began her career in 1986 at Aetna Life and Casualty in Long Island. She quickly moved up the ranks to management. She supervised the No Fault and BI Units, as well as being a team leader of the National Accounts Area. During her tenure at Aetna, she also spent time as a training supervisor and training consultant.
